Call It What You Will Salinas

Welcome to Call It What You Will.  This is a show that focuses on politics and social issues here in Salinas and our neighboring communities.  We aim to provide interviews that give listeners a more in-depth perspective on local leaders in government and the community.  We are not limited by the word count of a newspaper article or the time constraints of a tv news report.  We are simply some people sitting at a table having a conversation that we hope you find interesting and most of all, informative.

Our show usually has two formats.  When we have a guest, our show focuses on having those conversations that we hope bring you a better understanding of the politics and social issues of our community.  When we don't have a guest, we tend to just sit around the table and have those random conversations about politics that happen when one sits at a bar sharing a few drinks with friends.

This episode features people that live in the Chinatown area of Salinas as well as a lawyer that works to defend them.  We speak with homeless residents of Salinas that share a little bit of how they ended up in Chinatown and how they are receiving help from the community to get back on their feet and what else can be done to improve conditions down in Chinatown.  Hear what residents in Chinatown have to say about the drought, the violence in Salinas, and what they would like people to know about Chinatown, a place that often gets a bad reputation here in Salinas.  Our thanks to everyone for being our guests on this episode.  Thanks to Wes White for his help in organizing the interviews and shout out to the fellas as the Salinas Underground Podcast for letting us use their portable mic to tape this episode.  Hear and enjoy what will be the first of many episodes that come from Chinatown in Salinas.  After listening, if you want to do more, you can always head down there to donate directly or there are other local groups such as Salinas Tent City that accept donations to give to homeless residents here in town.
