Call It What You Will Salinas

Welcome to Call It What You Will.  This is a show that focuses on politics and social issues here in Salinas and our neighboring communities.  We aim to provide interviews that give listeners a more in-depth perspective on local leaders in government and the community.  We are not limited by the word count of a newspaper article or the time constraints of a tv news report.  We are simply some people sitting at a table having a conversation that we hope you find interesting and most of all, informative.

Our show usually has two formats.  When we have a guest, our show focuses on having those conversations that we hope bring you a better understanding of the politics and social issues of our community.  When we don't have a guest, we tend to just sit around the table and have those random conversations about politics that happen when one sits at a bar sharing a few drinks with friends.

This week, we welcome Alex Schumacher to the XL Publichouse.  Alex is a local cartoonist/writer/dude on his grind.  He shares with us his projects that can be found at AlexSchumacherArt.com and they have a little something for everyone.  We hear about the work goes into writing a non-traditional, illustrated narrative called Decades of (in)Experience.  They follow the life and times of one Luke Carlin, and you might find some familiar themes that we have all experienced in retail 9-5s.  We get into another project of Alex's, Mr. Butterchips, and Dom is excited to find that he can purchase Mr. Buttercups merch.  Word to the wise, if you get some merch, he will include a hand-drawn sketch, bonus!  If you are trying to break into the comic/graphic novel biz, you can even check out Alex's column, Bread Crumbs From the Void, in Five2One Magazine.  There he offers up tips and advice on what it takes to put out your own work and do it consistently.  Listen in and share this episode of Call It What You Will with our guest, Alex Schumacher!
